|Built as a textile mill in 1813-1815 on land owned by E.I. duPont, the
Henry Clay Mill now serves as the reception center for the Hagley Foundation and a museum
of the industrization of the Brandywine Valley. When you visit Hagley you can visit
the first DuPont company office, a well-equipped 19th century machine shop, and the
family's first Delaware home. You can stroll through their beautifully planned
garden and watch demonstrations of black powder manufacturing. Bring the children!
